Ways To Drop a Shadow in Inkscape
Shadow effect when designing is as a result of the inability of light to penetrate through the design, therefore the sides of the design allows light and shows the effect below the design. Shadow helps in transforming a design to be realistic.
In this tutorial we will be discussing two methods to create a shadow in inkscape.
Method 1
- Select the design that should be given a shadow then go to filter on the menu bar.
- Choose shadows and glows then select drop shadow from the pop-up.
- A window will appear then set and place the shadow to your test. Remember that a shadow is often dark because it is the absence of light.
- Select live preview at the bottom left of the window to see or preview the changes you made.
- Click apply then close the window.
Method 2
This method is easy and it is the commonly use method of creating a shadow.
- Simply duplicate the design and make the new copy blur
or
- Duplicate the design and send it behind.
- Move the new copy left, right, up or down determining where the shadow would face.
Make sure the shadow is black or closely black in colour
